Connecting an air extraction unit -how to best wire them up?

Hi, I have had problems with condensation and damp in my house so am thinking of installing some extraction units (eg expelair or ventaxia type). 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the bathroom. The problem is how to power them, most models are connected to the lightswitch to come on when the light is activated and are usually installed during the build these days. However as I'm installing them from scratch I don't really want to be running cables all over the room. And as far as I'm aware there are no plug in models around. Is there any other way to power the units without making a big job of it?
