Hello,
last autum we stayed at a friend's house that has underfloor heating, and I was really impressed. I would like to install it at home but there are two problems. One is that the floors in our bungalow are solid concrete, which makes them very cold (which is why the underfloor heating sounds so attractive). Can the heating be laid on top of this (maybe covert under tiles), or would the floors have to be dug up?

And secondly, we don't have a gas supply or boiler, we currently use night storage heaters – is electric underfloor heating possible?

Yes, you should be fine laying on top of this and using electric underfloor heating, but it’s certainly worth consulting with a specialist installer as the installation and finish methods will very much depend on your desired finish e.g. carpet, tiles etc….

Another good reason for consulting with a specialist is that they may be able to advise on how to insulate between your concrete floor and the underfloor heating to prevent too much heat from being wasted through it passing into the concrete and not into your rooms
