Hi everybody - hopefully I am posting this in the right area as I could not see any other which seemed suitable.

I am after somebody to come and have a look at my air bricks on my house as have just discovered one which is covered up fairly substantially.

What sort of trader/specialist would be the best person to help me here?

Keen to avoid costly surveys etc but happy to pay a call out charge in the first instance to assess things for me.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Andy

Hi

Air bricks are primarily for ventilation, to help prevent any damp issues etc.... Without being able to see it in an image or know its purpose it's a bit hard to tell what's its purpose may be but generally if it is there then it probably has a reason for being there so should be clear to ventilate.

In terms of a tradesman - your first stop should probably be a general builder as he should be able to tell its purpose and advise as to what to do, clearing it etc.... We have a find a tradesman service that may be able to assist you with finding one: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/find-tradesmen/

If you are experiencing damp issues within the property then it may be best to consult a specialist damp company. We have quite a few damp information projects on site that can be found here: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/diy-how-to-type/damp.htm and also a project on air bricks that can be found here: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/airbricks.htm that might provide you with a little more information.

Hope this helps!
