Hello,

Can anyone offer any advice on following. Towel rail in bathroom not heating despite no previous problems - all other rads are fine. Relatively new pump installed on boiler system (conventional) which is on same level as bathroom (bungalow). One pipe to rail is warm but no heat getting through. The towel rail has been removed and flushed by a plumber but to no avail. Rail has been bled several times but apparantly no air lock. Any advice or tips on identifying cause greatly appreciated.

there's a possibility that if it's a an old heating system they used to connect the pipes to it on the gravity hot water circuit,if so it would pay to connect the pipes to the heating circuit

Hi,

I would try turning your other radiators off and leaving the towel rail on/open. Essentially depriving all others of heat and forcing it to go through the towel rail. It's a fairly simple test and can be conducted by most. Just turn the thermostatic valve down to zero on all your other radiators, or if you have manual valves the 'control' side turned into a closed position. Leaving the heating running for about half an hour and then check the towel rail.

If the rail has heated up then your issue will be balancing.
