Copper Pipeing V Plastic

I am in the process of getting quotes to re fit my central heating.

One fitter has suggested using plastic pipes throughout - I have never heard of this previously and my understanding was that Copper pipe work was the norm. - Clearly he is the cheaper option.....not laways the wisest choice.

He said he uses plastic to protect from future decay? - It will last for years?

Are there any views from the proffessionals - any views will be appreicated.

As long as it is barrier pipe (twin wall pipe) there shouldn't be a problem. Normally boiler manufacturers insist on copper tails at least 1 metre long from the boiler but then they can be changed to plastic. The gas pipe must be run in copper the whole way
