Central Heating working, hot water NOT working

Problem:
My central heating (boiler/raditor) is working perfectly fine, but the boiler does not fire up for hot water at all.

History of Problem:
I moved into a house recently. When I started hot water using the electronic timer thingy, the boiler fired up and I got some hot water. The water however was not as hot as it should have been i.e. the thermostat was set at 60 degrees and I was getting about 30-35 degrees. After 4 days the boiler refuses to fire up for hot water. However, it works fine for central heating.

Any clues about what could be wrong?
Is it thermostat or something else?

Many Thanks !

is this a fully pumped system ? this could be a faulty tank/cylinder thermostat. If the stat is not calling for heat, the actuator will stay in the central heating position.

Abit more information would help, what type of boiler is it ?

Hi is this an old boiler? we had the same problem, however there is a small box within the heating system, found after the pump moving away from the boiler and this has a switch that needs to be reset, you push the switch up. Sorry dont know the name of the switch and our system rather old, so if its new this may be of no use at all, perhaps someone can clarify this.

Many Thanks !
is it a combi ??? the valve is a three way valve with an actuator if you have one shift the lever push it over it should lock and see what happens
