Central Heating working, hot water NOT working

Problem:
My central heating (boiler/raditor) is working perfectly fine, but the boiler does not fire up for hot water at all.
History of Problem:
I moved into a house recently. When I started hot water using the electronic timer thingy, the boiler fired up and I got some hot water. The water however was not as hot as it should have been i.e. the thermostat was set at 60 degrees and I was getting about 30-35 degrees. After 4 days the boiler refuses to fire up for hot water. However, it works fine for central heating.
Any clues about what could be wrong?
Is it thermostat or something else?
Many Thanks !
