central heating valves

i am moving radiator and changing from copper to plastic pipes (10 mm), in the connections to the copper pipe there is an olive but it too small to fit on the plastic pipe,is it necessary to have an olive or is the fitting tight enough without it.

You need to use a plastic "push fit" connector. Make sure you use a pipe insert in the plastic pipe, then you simply push one end of the connector onto the plastic pipe and other onto the copper. Job done, shouldn't take more than a minute.
