Shower not heating up using Ideal Logic+ 30 boiler

by winkle » Thu Dec 15, 2022 9:45 am

I have an Ideal Logic+ 30 boiler which is 12 years old. Six months ago the hot water failed and the PCB was replaced which resolved the problem.

Everything was working fine again until 2 weeks ago - the shower, which is run off the boiler DHW system, doesn't get hotter than lukewarm. We get piping hot water in every other sink and even in the bathroom basin in the same room as the shower.

Could the shower valve faulty or is this a boiler problem again?

Thanks.

Hi winkle,
Most likely to be the valve, if you can isolate the feeds you could shut them, remove the valve and turn on the hot supply enough to assess whether hot water is being supplied.

Thanks for the reply.

I've replaced the shower valve and flushed through but the problem persists.

Is it likely the diverter valve in the boiler is faulty?

Thanks.

Hi winkle,
When you flushed through did you get 'piping hot water' from the supply pipe?

Hi,

To be honest I only flushed it through for a couple of seconds to check the water was clear, so it wasn't long enough to heat up.

Hi winkle,
Unless you check you get adequately hot water supplied to the valve inlet it is difficult to suggest a solution.
