Boiler to condensate pipe query

Hi, I have a condensate pipe that goes outside and runs about 20 feet to the drain. Every year I have to unfreeze the pipe although it`s lagged to a degree with grey foam piping.

My query is, there is a rubber pipe from the Baxi boiler going down to the start of the condensate which is inside the garage, if needed can the rubber pipe be disconnected and run into a bucket inside for a few days when we have freezing weather?.

Thanks for any help.

Hi gentryman.
Worth a try and see if it works, you may have to extend the rubber pipe and form a U in it before it discharges into the bucket.

Thanks stoneyboy,
I didn`t know if any gases were involved or just liquid ( acidic I know).

Hi gentryman,
The condensate comes from the flue gases, whether all boilers have traps to stop small amounts of flue gases from being discharged via the condensate pipe and whether every flue and condensate pipe are installed so this does not happen is an open question.
