Hi I'm renovating a building for rental purposes and am considering installing an electric wet central heating system using a thermal store. Does anybody have any experience of these sytems and associated running costs compared to oil - my only alternative. The building is approx 75sqm over 2 floors and is extremely well insulated, the heat requirement is in the range of 6 -8 kw and the system would run on scottish powers economy 2000 tariff which gives 18hrs a day off peak electricity.

Thanks

The running cost of electric boilers compaired with oil is about the same at the moment taking into account maintenance / inspection costs on oil boilers and fuel storage tanks.
Electricity can be comparable if the off peak tariff is utilised to its maximum with a thermal store on economy ten tariff.
I don't know the cost of 1kwh (one unit) of Scotish 2000 tariff is?
