The problem is a 1970's floor standing Potterton C50/15/SB.
I know.... why bother repairing it. The people that own it are far older and want
to keep it going to see them out.
It has been extremely reliable only requiring a replacement circulation pump and
several Thermo couple sensors over the years.
Problem now is the boiler will not light up. Main gas solenoid has gone open circuit. I believe
the resistance should be in the region of 5.2K Ohms.

The part number on the gas valve is V404A 1006 1 LW. 240V 0.02amp.

I contacted The Plumb Centre Parts depot and they have part number V404A (Solenoid)

Would this part be interchangeable with V404A 1006 1 LW 240V .02amp ?[/img]

I think it is the same part, but make sure.

In case like this I ways pick it up, take it to the job first and have a good look at the old one.

Most places will always take parts back if there wrong and refund the cost.

But we both know it the boiler does not meet any of the new regulations.

If they’re over 65 years old sort out a heating grant for them and just replace it with a new one.

The current grants are for £2000 and this should cover the cost of it.
