BERTY,
DRIVEWAYS ARE ONLY EVER SUCCESSFUL IN THE LONG TERM IF THE GROUND PREPARATION IS COMPLETED TO A VERY GOOD STANDARD.
WHATEVER TYPE OF DRIVE YOU DECIDE ON, IF YOU USE AN INSTALLER, GO ON RECOMMENDATION AND VIEW THIER WORK AND MAKE A POINT OF VIEWING DRIVES COMPLETED YEARS AGO (IF POSSIBLE) TO SEE HOW WELL THEY HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND TRAFFIC.
I TOO, HAVE HEARD OF AND SEEN LOTS OF UNSATISFACTORY DRIVES CONSTRUCTED USING THE P.I.C. AND ON THE OTHER HAND HAVE SEEN SOME GREAT EXAMPLES THAT ARE NOW IN THERE TEENS AND STILL LOOKING GOOD WITH A LITTLE MAINTENANCE USE OF SEALER TO PROTECT SURFACE AND FINISH COLOUR FROM WEAR.
I HAVE A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY BUT SHOULD I CHOOSE TO ALTER IT IN THE FUTURE, I WILL GO FOR BLOCK PAVING AS SLIGHT MOVEMENTS IN THE GROUND ARE NOT NOTICED AND IF THERE ARE LARGER MOVEMENTS/SLUMPS, THEY ARE EASILY REMEDIED AND AN APPLICATION OF SEALER NOW AND AGAIN WILL KEEP THE SURFACE LOOKING GOOD.
ITS YOUR CHOICE BUT MAKE IT SOON TO AVOID THE IMPENDING "PLANNING PERMISSION ISSUE" CONCERNING THE INSTALLATION OF DRIVES/PARKING SPACES.
ALL THE BEST WITH YOUR CHOICE AND I HOPE IT ALL TURNS OUT WELL.
CHEERS,
ALDA.
