just after some ideas/options really - i have a long driveway, with a gentle slope. It has been a driveway for 40 years. The previous owner of the house had what i can only describe as road scrapings layed on it. Looks like a scrap yard. You can still see bits with the remains of road markings on it. Prior to that i think it may have had pea gravel as i can still find scatterings of pea gravel around and about. The house has been renovated but judging from what i hear people have paid for the more common suburban size driveway, figures of around 10 grand, the prospect of having mine renovated seems a very long way off. What surfaces can i consider. Gravel im concerned about the slope and the fact it goes around in a curve and may get kicked onto the lawn and gradually workits way down the slope. would a more angular chip be better. What other options are there?. Can i lay on the present surface pretty much? Can I do it myself with fairly average to good d.i.y. skills in a fairly decent time period. (i know that depends on size, i havent calculated it but id say 10 car lengths with parking for 4 cars and manouvering space at the end of it).
