Why concrete floor?

We are two sisters buying our first flat. The estate agent seems a bit dodgy and we are waiting for our survey to be done. The flat has been developed and the floor is not yet finished (it is boarded over at the moment). The vendor is going to finish the floor to our spec so we asked for the original floorboards but have been told that the floor in the flat is concrete. We haven't heard of this before - should we be concerned? Also, what's the best way of achieving the look we want (i.e wooden floorboards!) or should we be happy with the concrete floor?? Thanks.

Concrete floors are not at all unusual and wooden boards can be placed on them fairly easily. See our project on engineered hardwood flooring or measuring floors. There are companies in there who would be pleased to help you.
