Adding Old Lumps of Plaster to Concrete Mix?

Hello,
I would like to know if anybody knows whether using old plaster (knocked off the walls of my victorian built walls and ceilings) would adding this into a cement mixer with ballast and cement do any harm??
Is there another chemical reaction that would happen and weaken it or would it effectively be like adding a bit of sand?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been trawling the forums and haven't seen anything related to this specifically. I found something about making fresh plaster and concrete mixes.
Thanks in advance,
Josh
