New Patio Ground Fill After Heavy Rainfall

by Thegodofstuck » Sat Nov 19, 2016 9:24 pm

Hi all. I began creating a patio 20m x 20m but the soil was poor so I dug down 2 foot with the idea that I would fill the large hole with hardcore, then mot on top and then finally lay the patio. However, I was ready to back fill with the hardcore/mot when we had 5 straight days of heavy rain. I have now been left with a 20m x 20m x 2ft pond in my back garden. Can anybody advise me what I need to do now please? If I crack on with the backfill will I eventually force the water out of the hole or will it just turn my mot to porridge? What is the best way to empty the hole? (bare in mind the length of time it takes to do this and the fact that November rain is never more than a day or two away). Thanks for your time.

hire a pump, dig a pit so all the water runs into it, and once drained fill the area with the hardcore
