we have a nasty earthy musty smell coming up through carpets it's not carpet itself but if you get down you can smell it at certain spots like where carpet joins in doorway and skirting area...would it be a good idea to add some more airbricks as could this be not enough air circulating under wooden floor? We have all new flooring throughout so we are a bit reluctant to go pulling carpets and flooring up to 'see'.

Hi, I have/had a very similar problem. It would seem that installing air bricks goes a long way to helping, however you may need to have a look under the floor boards. I had to shovel out several bags of musty soil and rubble from the solum. This helped a great deal. I then put down thick blue polythene and then got an air brick put in. What a difference. My house is 100 years old.
