Hi
If you visit the DIY Projects area and click on any of the damp projects :
https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/damp_or_mould.htm they are presented by a company called Property Repair Systems. They have many years experience in damp issues and should be able to provide you with a solution.
Regards

I would greatly appreciate you advice on the above. How long after a damp proof course is completed can I decorate, and what is the best way. I just want my walls painted. The decorated used lining paper, however due to problems we have ceased decorating. He is due back to finish, and I need to inform him on how it should be done. I hope to hear from someone soon. Kind regards, Candy Ball

New plaster after remedial dpc should be left bare for a minimum of 6 weeks. Then only a matt emulsion should be used to allow the wall to continue drying. After 12 months you can decorate how you wish.
