Earth floor

Having found damp on internal walls in the rear of my house, I noticed it was only on walls around the concrete floor area not in the boarded part.
Turns out the concrete is a mere half inch thick, directly under which is damp earth up against the damp internal walls - and that is level with the damp earth outside too.

Initial thoughts were
1) Disguise, sell, & run.
or
2) Build a mini digger inside the house

Does anyone on here knows what the heck to do for real?

Jeffx,
Extend the suspended floor - means digging out the earth floor. Most surveyors should pick up the damp problem so disguising it will be difficult.

What is the level of the damp earth under the concrete relative to your DPC? If the DPC is bridged then you will get damp problems. Two possibilities.

1. Lower the level so that it is at least 6 inches below DPC.

2. Consult a dampproofing company to see if they can offer you a chemical solution.

Cheers

Thanks

1 foot down inside - damp earth.
2 foot down inside - mud against the outside wall in one place, below any DPC.

Possibly a cracked drain outside.

Inside at least now there is no direct path for that to spread to the other walls higher up. Just (:?) need to build a suspended floor now.
