Damp Spots

I have a Victorian Terrace with a small utility area to the rear - I have started to notice some small damp spots (discolouring of paint) along one wall on the inside which adjoins the external wall) they are about 3-4 feet away from the actual external wall, and are random - size os a scattering of 1p coins, and rise to about 1 foot at max. The skirting is dry and no rot apparent.
They are more irritating than causing major damage, but they do irritate me, as I hate the idea of any damp - and would liek to know what is the best course of action.
I could have plaster hacked off and an injection in the wall (DPC) - but is it worth it?
It could e coming from the rainwater as we have decking that runs right up to the wall - is that possible? Also the wall is brick, and has plaster on it, as the room is small as soon as warm air circulates it definitely allows a little condensation on the walls generally - is that the problem?
Any help or advice who is best to contact on this greatly appreciated - I don't want to get hung uip on this - BUT I AM!!!!
Thanks,
Paul
