Part of exterior stonework remains wet when rest is dry ???

by mark86 » Tue Jul 03, 2007 8:08 pm

Hi there,
I have a stonework property (built 1995) and i have noticed that after it rains, part of the exterior front i.e kitchen wall remains wet when the rest dries it should. This part is quite large, some 2ft wide and from roof to kitchen window. This wet part seems to be over the bathroom but i don't see any other problems.

Any ideas what is happening here. Would love to post a photo but dont know how.

thanks,

Sounds like ( unless this particular area of stone is more porous than the rest) the water is getting in behind the stones and while the rest is dring the water is leaking back out in this area. Check trhe wall for cracks in the nmortar or split stones etc.

are there any vents in those rooms, if so make sure the pipe in the vent is falling down towards the external wall.
