How to Repair Leak Damage

Hi,

We recently had a leak in our bathroom which resulted in the living room underneath with a large damp spot on the wall.

The leak has now been fixed and (I think) the wall has dried as much as possible (its been several weeks).

Some of the paint bubbled up and peeled off, so is it just a matter of painting over it, or is there anything else I have to do?

Im a total DIY novice, so would really appreciate any help,

Many thanks!
Jon

get a moisture reading on the wall and if it below 15% then paint the patch with an oil based paint ie undercoat and about 300mm beyond the patch, let it dry and then paint with your normal emulsion. The under coat will stop any brown stains from showing through.

Sorry if this is another stupid question, but how would I get a moisture reading of the wall?
