Damp joist ends

Hi, I'm refurbishing an old property and the joists are built directly into the wall. The floor is a bit springy and I'm worried that the joist ends may be damp and "unstable". What is the best method of repairing/replacing these joists and does it involve ripping up the entire floor, ceiling etc?

Hi Remus, no it need not involve ripping the whole lot down. If you go to the project on the website called repairing structural timber you will see exactly this problem there and the company sponsoring this project provide a brilliant, innexpensive method of replacing rotten joist ends.
