Damp spot behind radiator

I have a damp problem behind a living room radiator (see images). The plaster has become soft in patches. On the other side of the wall is the kitchen and in particular immediately behind the patches is a dishwasher. As it is in a fitted kitchen I'm reluctant to take out the dishwasher to see whether the damp is behind it and whether it's caused through a leak or just condensation.
I'd appreciate any advice as to next steps and potential remedies.

take of the plaster back to the brickwork and the skirting, paint aquapruf buitumin on the wall and on the back of the skirting, replaster with limelight base coat, and finish with thistle multi finish plaster

Thanks welsh brickie - will do that but if the damp is rising from below won't I need some attention to the damp course?

the buitumin will stop it in that area, it could be a damp course problem but unless it is showing anywhere else I doubt it,
