Damp and Rusty Wall - Is This Serious?

Hello,
I wonder if anyone would be able to help. One of my walls appears to be slightly damp, and oddly seems to have rust on the corner (I didn't know there was any metal in the walls, so this is surprising). Does this look serious to you, or is it a case of chipping away any loose plaster and then just filling the cracks in (see attached image).

Thanks in advance for your help,

James

Hi Jimbo22
The rust is from paster angle beads on the corners. You really must investigate the cause of the damp. There's no easy way by just filling the cracks.

Thankyou for the reply, the wall next to it is protected by tiles and theres no logical reason why that particular spot would suffer from damp. There are a few touches of rust in other corners of the house. Do you think I need to call in an expert for this?
