Hi,

We had a survey on our house and they said that there "was evidence of damp to ground floor walls, and that timbers in contact may be defective" there is NO visible damp anywhere in the house and when i questioned the surveyor he said that with the age of the house it was quite common.
Our house was built in 1901 and is a mid terrace, do you think we should get a specialist in?
The house does have DCM.

It is normal for houses as old as yours to be damp (to an extent)
The question is how damp?
Your surveyor says the "timbers in contact with the walls may be defective."
Then again, they may not!
The thing to do is, have a look, take up a couple of floor boards along the edge and have a look.
If they they look perfect OK.
These little weasel words - like "may" cause a great deal or worry. The thing is take action have a look they are probably OK.
