Damp patches on external walls in 60's terrace with timber and upvc clad

by sammyb » Sun Jan 17, 2016 10:38 am

Hi chaps. Have just moved into a 60s terrace with timber-framed and UPVC clad front and rear walls. Have noticed irregular damp patches appearing on external wall in bedroom - small patches less than 6" square, and one long patch above the skirting about an inch wide but virtually the width of the wall. No plaster on internal wall, just painted board. Is this condensation, or something penetrating through from outside?

Dry with a hair dryer and see if the patches return to the same place while leaving the door and window slightly ajar, this should tell you whether its condensation or water penetration.
