Damp Proofing Stone Wall in Property in Italy

Hello
I have a house in Italy which has a outside wall which is made of stone and has been left as a stone feature inside the house. The house is built on a incline and the wall is adjacent to the garden of the next door neighbor. The soil of the garden comes approximately 6 foot up the outside wall. During wet weather damp comes through the wall and stains the feature wall. This is very noticeable because it is dry above 6 foot and wet below. Is there anything I can treat the wall with to seal it and stop the damp coming through. I would prefer to keep the feature wall and not have to have it rendered after the treatment. I will be driving there next summer therefore I can take any treatment with me.
Any advice would be appreciated.
