DPM for a new Timber Frame Self Build

by diddyboom » Mon Apr 08, 2019 8:52 pm

Hi there, ive read DIYing a DPM is achievable but have a couple of questions.

My intention was to use 1200gauge PVC, and this is already laid in strips between the blockwork and the timber frame (under the timber frames own DPC under their soleplate) lapped down the inside of the blockwork and 200mm or so across into the floor.

However corners seem to be a nightmare to tape and get anything like a solid seal. Thus i'm considering DPM paints instead, but before doing anything thought id seek some experience/guidance :)

Am i missing something regards how you handle (internal & external) corners when using a PVC DPM?
Can you use DPM paints in combination with PVC DPM (eg paint the corners as belts and braces, or just paint all the blockwork and first 200mm of floor around edges - and use PVC DPM in middle?

This will be a standard job for a builder, was just hoping i could give it a go - but dont want to bodge the DPM and have issues!
