Advice for damp issues, plaster and efflorescence

Thanks for the accept. I'm looking for some advice please, hopefully someone can help. We've just completed on a fixer upper today.
There are a few areas of penetrating damp so I've got a new roof going on next week, my husband is re-pointing the brickwork and we're sealing it. There are a few areas where there is salt leak, I believe it's called effloresence on the plaster internally so the research I've done says to treat with a solution, I was then going to use a damp seal paint before finally painting the walls in these areas. Is this the right course of action?
