Mould along one side of window in high rise building

by rainandsnow » Fri Dec 04, 2020 12:14 pm

Hi,

I live in a high rise building and this(dampness/mould/paint,plaster peeling) happens every winter and only affects on the left side of the window wall, even when the trickle vent is left open. Any suggestions for permanent fix, which material to use for replaster, paint type and if anyone could guess the cause would be much appreciated.

I am guessing the cause is due to the location of the window and a poor installation?

Hi rainandsnow
The offending side of your window is attached to the external corner column which extends into your room. The column is cold and condensation forms on/in the internal plaster attached to the column. Easiest “solution” is to fit a much wider piece of upvc trim.
