Debris clearance from cavity wall

Hi, I'm a novice to all of this. I discovered damp in hall and below front room window if my semi.
On advice I got rid of the high front and back steps. I got a damp specialist who said I need debris clearance of cavity wall along front and side of house. He will remove alternate bricks to do this. He'll also lower a small drain at side of house which is flush with brick paving to allow rain water to drain away. He's quoted me £2500. Is this a fair price ? Also, do I need this done even after I've removed the high steps above my dpc? Really appreciate any feedback as I haven't a clue. Thanks

Hi building2023,
Provided the bricks where the steps were have not been coated with impervious paint I would suggest you wait and see what happens to damp levels. It may take a year or so for things to dry out.

Thanks for this advice. I think that I am taking that wait and see approach. So I'll do that for a while.
