Chimney capping

by damian » Wed Apr 04, 2007 10:52 am

Hi.
I have a chinmey in my house (I am told used to house a real fire in the bedroom) which has been bricked up.
There is no air brick where the fireplace used to be so no ventilation to the bedroom but there have never been any damp areas coming through to the bedroom walls.
I am looking to cap the chimney as it is open at the moment and am wondering if you can tell me which type of chimney cap I should get and how it should be fitted.

Thank you very much for your help.
Kindest regards,

Damian Taylor

Go to the suppliers section of the website and click into chimneys flues and fireplaces. The company in there will advise you if you ring them.

Damian,

I have a very similar sounding situation with regard to a chimney I would like to cap. Did you follow the advice and did you get a satisfactory outcome? Would you recommend doing the same thing again?
