bathroom damp

i have a damp patch in my bathroom wich gets worse in rain i have had a roofer who says my slates are fine the outide wall does need repointing but is it possible for rain to travel through one wall get through to my cavity and hit the other causing damp or should i start with my roof and guttering which is slightly faulty too

Yes, it is possible and this may be the fault of a wall tie. When cavity walls are built they are fitted internally with wall ties to keep the walls level and stable. These wall ties often have a ring of rubber or a twist in the centre which stops the external damp travelling through to the internal leaf of wall. If these ties become rusted or defunct then obviously they cannot carry out their function anymore
