removal of woodchip wallparer

by arches » Tue Apr 29, 2008 8:58 am

I've heard that wood chip wallpaper is difficult and messy to remove. I want to clear a ceiling of the stuff. Suggestions for the best method please.

Hateful stuff - if I could find the guy that invented it......................

Use a steam stripper and a scraper together with lots of perseverance and elbow grease.

Be prepared for a lot of mess as it will come off in bits - sticky ones to boot. The steam releases the thin paper easily but it doesn't go through the wood bits quite so quickly.

Be careful not to blow the finishing coat of plaster with the steam.

Cheers
