help my painted wooden floor won't dry!

Having taken up the carpet in my bedroom and cleaning up the wooden floor boards i have painted it with a mix of brown dulux paint and clear gloss (about 75:25 ratio) but after more than 12 hours it is still tacky to the touch. What have I done wrong and more importantly how I can save it? Thinking about adding just a layer of gloss to seal it but I would have to walk over most of it leaving footprints if I did!
Thanks for any advice.

HI
It sounds as if you floor has wax on it this will retard the drying some what , if you could leave it a few more days see what happens , and if its still tacky , then the only sure way is to wash it all off with spirit and re seal , there are products in the projects page here under painting / decoration , and am sure there one to help .
hope this has been of some use to you .
