Can anyone advise how long you have to wait until I can wallpaper a new plastered wall.

Hi sfallon, I would wait about 6 months before doing it. That gives it time to dry properly and if any cracks are going to appear they will during this time. If you want to do something to the wall in the meantime I would give it a mist coat, ie a watered down coat or 2 of emulsion. As new plaster will be porous this will seal it and make it easier for when you come to wallpaper it. It will also show up any blemishes in the wall that can be seen to before papering. Make sure that when you do paper you give it a good sizing first.

Hi shedman, Would you suggest 6 months for a skim coat too or could it be papered sooner? What product would you recommend to size the wall with?
Thanks

Hi, I would size the walls with either a packet of size which can be bought and mixed using the manufacturers guidelines or use normal paste but watered down as the packet says. If you were going to use just size and not a mist coat first then give the walls 2 coats of size to stop wallpaper drying out too quickly. If the walls have just been reskimmed then you can paper a bit sooner as they wont take so long to dry properly.

hi theshedman I'm not sure which I will do at the moment. I still have damp after 4 month of dp, but have taken your suggestions on board. Thanks again
