Alternative to mastic for sealing window surrounds

I am in the process of re-painting the window surrounds (inside) and have stripped out the old mastic seal between the uPVC window and wooden window surround and am wondering if there is an alternative to having to re-apply new mastic.

Does anybody know if there is a moulding that that could be used instead of applying mastic. It would have to fit a 90 degree angle with a curve on the exposed surface.

Any suggestions ?

Hi John, there are plenty of mouldings that would do what you are after, just go into your local DIY store. The chances are though that you would still need to use some type of mastic as well, as there is a good chance that the surrounds will not be true and so will leave gaps. Are you using a silicon mastic or water based. If using the waterbased type you will be able to get it quite flat and be able to paint over it. Silicon ones don't take paint very well.
