Laminate Flooring on a Ceiling - Has Anyone Done This before?

Hi all, my first post here as I'm new.
Has anyone ever used laminate flooring products used on a ceiling before? I have seen panelled wooden ceilings in photos & brochures & had the idea of using it in my kitchen. I want to rid myself of the stippled artex ceiling without paying a plasterer. I also like the effect.
I wouldn't just glue it straight up, but perhaps screw ply to the existing ceiling to give a flat surface to mount it to.

Any thoughts?

because of the laminate finish, it will condensate and drip on you in the kitchen, not a good idea.

This sounds very interesting, I've never seen it. Why do you want to make it?

Wow I have never even given that a thought! I can't give any insight but I would be very keen to hear how it goes if you do go ahead with it!
