Advice Needed on Painting a Window Recess

by Leannew » Thu May 02, 2019 10:54 pm

Can anyone offer advice on how to paint a window reveal? Should I paint the reveal before painting the wall?

Hi

If you are glossing the reveal, probably best to paint your walls and then do any gloss work required

Kind Regards

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure if I used the correct terminology. It's the recessed bit of wall to the side and top of the windows that I'm enquiring about. I will gloss the cill after painting the walls.

Hi

Apologies, should have made it a bit clearer - If you are keeping the surrounding wall and reveal the same colours then generally you would paint the window reveals first and any other reveals, doorways, alcoves etc and then the walls

If they are going to be different colours then best to paint wall first and then do the reveal so that you get a nice crisp finishing edge to the reveal.

Hope this helps
