Painting Over Dark Mahogany Wood

Hi just moved in to my new house all the internal doors, skirting, are painted in mahogany. I was gonna to sand them down. Lightly then apply zensser 123, then put some under coat on, the finish with a white satin wood. Is this the correct way to do it thanks .
