Gone off Paint Remedy now Smelling Like Sour Milk

Hi all,
Today I painted two coats of paint that I believe has gone off. It was left by the previous owners but I think it was only opened 6 months ago as they painted a wall before moving out and there was not much missing from the can.
There is a sour milk smell now coming from the painted (wallpapered) wall. Given the current circumstances, I can’t get to a shop for primer and oil based primers online seem to cost a fortune.
Should I just remove the wallpaper ASAP? Do I need to wait for the paint to fully fire before using a steamer?
