Corner Seating Area Outdoor Furniture Project

Hi folks.

Wasn’t exactly sure which forum this best fitted.

I’m looking to make a corner seating area for a raised patio which will be part painted and part stained. Firstly, am I best using tantalised wood which has either been allowed to dry or treated with the appropriate sealant or is untreated kiln tried softwood okay if painted/stained and sealed correctly?

Secondly what paint, stain, sealant would you advise. It is like this will remain outdoors year round.

Thanks in advance

Nick

Hi nixy999,
I would not recommend using softwood for your project. Even if you use tantalised timber some areas (like joints) will probably start to deteriorate within 2/3 years.
If you can afford it you are better going for a hardwood.
Always treat the timber using some form of solvent based preservative.
