5 coats and still paint on kitchen walls looks patchy?

by Michael3011 » Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:50 am

Good morning guys,

So I recently stripped our kitchen, sanded the walls, cleaned them, sugar soaped etc. Left if a couple of days and then applied the paint.

After 1st coat, it looked rubbish. 5 coats later, it's still patchy as hell.

Does anyone have an idea of how to solve this issue, it's rife on all the walls? Where there isn't patchiness the paint looks ok (Leyland Brilliant White Matt Emulsion), it's just the fact it looks like I've been painting over wallpaper (which I haven't...).

Any help very welcomed.

It looks like the wall itself is patchy/uneven.

No amount of paint will fix that.

See my reply https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/forums/flaking-paint-on-hallway-wall-due-to-incorrect-preparation-t49656.html#p119688 where I stated 3 options you have to fix this.
