Paint / primer keep bubbling on walls in new property

Hello,

I hope someone can offer advice ... I bought the house that had been renovated by builders, and they definitely finished in a rush and potentially painted plasterboard before it had properly dried, with really cheap paint. On the whole everything is okay, but I do have a wall that keeps bubbling. We have sanded it back, used decent emulsion, sanded it again and applied a professional primer, but it's still bubbling. There used to be a chimney behind this wall but it was removed years ago so can't think there's an issue due to that. If anyone has thoughts or recommendations I'd really appreciate it! I've been trying to upload photos but can't resize them ...

Hi bethsheppard,
If the issue is with a dry lined wall ie one with plasterboard on it, then the plasterboard is the problem. If it is a plastered masonry wall then the most likely cause is damp.
