How to locate brick inside a window recess, to fit blinds?

I have drilled a couple of holes right behind the window and it just went through. Did I drill into the wall cavity?

Instead, if I go just less than 4 inches from the face of the wall, can I guarantee brick (or mortar between bricks)?

I like to set the blind as deep and close to the window as possible. Please advise.

Hi Jacob.sumith
Chances are that you will have drilled through a cavity closer. Try fixing into the window frame or accept you will need to be away from the window so you can fix into the inner leaf - if your house is masonry construction.

Thanks for the reply.

The fitting provided also includes a bit that can be fitted on the lintel, in addition to brackets that go on the sides, about which I asked the previous question.

Now about the fitting that goes upwards into the lintel, won't this penetrate the cavity tray? and cause water leaks?

Hi Jacob.sumith
You should not go upwards - you may have steel lintels which will be difficult to fix into.
