Gloss not taking after painting wooden banister spindles

by Diy123 » Sat Nov 28, 2020 11:07 am

I have glossed some wooden spindles on my banister but the gloss is not taking. I had sanded down the woodwork which had a very smooth finish as if it had been oiled. I then applied a coat of Zanzibar primer and 2 x oil based undercoat. The gloss looks very streaky and patchy, is it going to have to be a case to strip back to the wood? Thanks in advance

Hi diy123
Never heard of the primer you mention but suspect there is a compatibility issue between this and subsequent coats. You may well have to start again.
