Undercoat over recent gloss for stubborn knotty marks?

I want to patch up the odd bit of a gloss painting job where stubborn dark knotty marks in the wood has still managed to be visible through the gloss even though the wood was undercoated.
I was wondering if I could pop a bit of undercoat where needed on the (sanded) gloss where the problem areas are and retouch up with the gloss.
Will anything disastrous happen if I do this?

Hi kia606
Doubtful that this will stop the knot resins. You should go back to bare timber and apply knotting for the best chance of success
