Filling 25mm holes in plasterboard from TV mount

Hi
i fitted a tv mount to a plasterboard wall a while ago using 25mm gripit mountings.
i've now come to a time where it needs to be removed and the holes filled in the plasterboard.
i have 5 x 25mm holes in the plasterboard that need filled.
looking for a method to successfully fill, so that once sanded and painted they can't be seen.
i thought about buying rubber bungs (which are for 25mm holes), pushing them into the hole leaving a few millimetres to fill. would this work?
