Bathroom paint flaking after repaint

Hi all,

This is something with a few google results and threads but no answer for my specific query.

I had flaking bathroom paint on my ceiling (due to age I think it was no longer as efficient/durable and the extractor fan was also on the way out) I washed this down with sugar soap, removed the flaking paint and sanded down where it had been (it didn’t expose plaster or leave areas to re-fill), I then repainted with zinnser mould resistant paint.

When adding the paint I was a bit worried as additional amounts of the original paint started to come off too - was I meant to sand the whole ceiling down?

Also now things are drying, their are new areas where the paint is flaking off.

I have to leave it till morning now, but what should be the plan of action then? Scrape off new flaking paint, fine sand that area and then reapply?

Give up and get a pro in?

Any thoughts welcome!

Hi myleftknee,
Suggest you scrape off loose areas, sand and apply the zinsser to the newly sanded areas and see what happens.
